1)Browsing, Photocopy
Materials are free to browse and photocopy in the reading rooms.
After use, materials which have not been signed out must not be returned to the shelves, but be placed on the book wagons located on each floor.
To use materials stored in the closed stack of the Library, apply at the library counter supplying information necessary in
identifying the materials (e.g. Title, Book Call Number, Book ID number)Authors of books and journal papers are protected by the Copyright Act. Reproduction of materials must be made in compliance with the Copyright Act (Legislation No.48,1970).
Reproduction permitted in the Library under the Copyright Act is as follows:
When the person is using the reproduction for his personal use in research and only part of the work is copied, one copy per person (applicable to all individual work published in regular publications that have passed an appropriate period of time after publication) Priority for copying with the Library photocopier is given to Library collection.
Photocopy cards can be purchased at the Library counter and vending machine in the Old Hospital Building. The University issued ID Card must be presented when purchasing the card at the Library.
2)Loan
When materials are to be taken outside the Library, you need to check-out the materials at the library counter or Self-checkout machine.University issued ID card is required when borrowing materials.
Returned materials cannot be checked out again to the same person at the time of return. Consideration is given so that as many uses as possible have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the materials and put them to good effect.
There are some materials that are not for loan, including valuable items and course texts.

The loan period is subject to change, for example during intersession period.
3) Renew
Renewal can be made once during the loan period, only if the item has not been reserved by another user.
Audio-visual materials cannot be renewed.
The renewal period is calculated from the date the item is renewed.
Renewal can be made using My Library. Renewal can also be made at the library counter or by
telephone during library hours.
4) Return Loaned items should be returned to the Library Counter before the end of loan period. At night or when the Library is closed on holidays, the items can be placed into the book drop slot next to the Library Counter or the return bin in the Old Hospital Building. On the days of full closure of the library, the book return bin in the Old Hospital Building should be used.
Do not return media materials (DVD, VHS) to book drop slot or book return bin to prevent breakage. Please return personally at the library counter.
If you cannot return checked out materials due to illness, natural disaster or any other unavoidable reason, please consult the Library.Materials may be returned by postal mail or courier (TaKuHai-bin) in such cases. Choose services which you can have a receipt in case of accident. Please keep the receipt until return is confirmed. The date of return is the date when the items is received at the Library. Please use plastic bag and cushioning material properly to avoid damaging the library collection. User is responsible for the return shipping cost.
5)Holds
If the material you want is currently checked out by another user, you can place a hold from Lukaco (Online Public Access Catalog). Status of the requested item is available from My Library's Usage Status page.
When the requested item is returned, the Library will notify you by e-mail and through My Library's Usage Status page. After notification, the item is set aside at the Library Counter for 1 week (3 days for periodicals).
6) Overdues If the loaned item is not returned within the designated period, the Library will send out a overdue notice. Borrowing privilege will be blocked while you have overdue material.
7) Lost, Damaged Items
If any item is lost, damaged, or soiled report to the Library immediately. If the item is not found within a specified period, or if the damage or soiling is serious, user is liable for compensation as a rule, by replacing the item. If the item cannot be replaced, user must pay for the sum of money that was required when the item was originally acquired.
